Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 17th October 2022: Grandweld, a leading shipbuilder with 38 years track record of successfully delivering more than 150 vessels, has signed a landmark contract with Jana Marine Services Co LLC to build five 42m GrandExtreme crew boats. Delivery of the first vessel will be in 9 months. This order brings the total number of vessels built by Grandweld for Jana Marine to twelve vessels, with Grandweld previously having built seven vessels for Jana Marine, including four crewboats, one work vessel and two harbour tugs. Grandweld is part of Stanford Marine Group which is wholly owned by Thalassa Investments. Thalassa Investments is 46.7% owned by Goldilocks Investment Company Limited, an ADGM company owned by Eshraq Investments, a public company listed on Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. New design – GrandExtreme This order is for Grandweld’s new ‘GrandExtreme’ design, a 42m crewboat series developed by Grandweld’s in-house engineering department.  GrandExtreme design builds on its sister series, the GrandSuperior, by offering a wider, more spacious accommodation area, with an interior layout that can be customized to meet different charter requirements.  The first vessel will be uniquely designed with a higher offshore personnel capacity of 135, will meet the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code for carrying dangerous goods and will have higher fuel capacity of 120cu.m. The other four vessels have a GrandMajlis lounge, office, large workshop, storeroom and offshore personnel seating. The vessels are in full compliance with the end customer’s latest requirements in Saudi Arabia. With a low draft of 1.82 m, high speed and good seating capacity, Stanford Pelican is an ideal vessel foroffshore support operations in the shallow waters of the Middle East. Latest projects include advanced crew boats, dive maintenance and support vessels, and work crane boats for a who’s who of Middle East energy firms and offshore contractors. Grandweld, which has been operating from its Dubai base since 1984, specialises in vessels custom built to conduct complex operations in the region’s challenging offshore environment. These range from three recently delivered work crane boats for Kuwait Oil Company – optimised for duties such as heavy lifting, oil-pollution control, SPM hose handling, and supply to remote areas – to two modified 42 metre long crew boats (FNSA-3 and FNSA-4) for Fujairah National Shipping Agency. The vessel, named FNSA-3, can achieve a speed of 28.5 t knots with 40 tons of deadweight and over 30 knots at lightship condition. FNSA-3 offers luxury seating, VIP accommodation, a larger deck space and enhanced comfort for the crew. The vessel will be capable of executing several missions such as security duties, fast transportation of offshore personal and cargo, supply of fuel and freshwater. - [SMG Awarded 'The Structured Finance Deal of the Year'](https://stanfordmarinegroup.com/index.php/2015/11/18/smg-awarded-the-structured-finance-deal-of-the-year-2/): Stanford Marine Group’s (SMG) refinancing of its existing debt through a US$325mn overcame a number of key challenges to become one of the largest private sector syndications for a UAE-based corporate in 2015, potentially opening up the world of underwriting to private sector borrowers. The final deal was completed by June 2015 – a tight deadline of less than two months – which was required in order to coincide with the repayment date of an existing facility. The deal was challenging for a number of reasons: • management of mortgages in over 10 jurisdictions; • repayment notices for the existing facility had to be served before syndication of the new deal; • release and takeover of 31 shipping mortgages along with their registry within 24 hours; and, • security release and takeover needed to occur on the same day as the disbursement. Transaction Breakdown Noor Bank, which ended up with a final hold of less than 15% on the facility, lead managed the structuring and underwrote the entire transaction, with the disbursement taking place at the end of June 2015. Barwa Bank, First Gulf Bank, and Qatar Islamic Bank were the mandated lead arrangers, and Ajman Bank, United Arab Bank also joined the deal as the Lead Arrangers. The deal was fully Shari’a compliant – successfully converting a dual-tranche conventional and Islamic facility into a single-tranche Shari’a compliant facility. “The deal was one of the first Islamic leveraged finance transactions in the region. Plus, requirement of hard underwriting made the deal even more challenging. This was in fact the largest single bank underwriting commitment given by Noor Bank since its inception. Besides various Islamic structuring and deal execution complexities, distribution of the transaction especially to the new set of banks was a task in itself. Strong Operational and Commercial Performance 2025 marked a record year for our offshore chartering business, delivering the strongest performance in our history. Supported by improved market conditions and sustained offshore activity, we achieved higher utilisation across our fleet of over 120 offshore support vessels operating across the GCC and selected international markets. This performance was driven by disciplined fleet management, strong commercial execution, and our ability to respond quickly to changing client requirements. By maintaining close engagement with our clients and aligning with their operational needs, we strengthened long-term partnerships and secured repeat business across multiple markets. Our forward-looking commercial strategy and focus on operational readiness enabled us to capture opportunities effectively, maximise fleet performance, and reinforce our reputation as a reliable offshore marine partner. Grandweld continued its strong growth trajectory in 2025, securing a robust pipeline of shipbuilding and ship repair contracts across the GCC and international markets. During the year, 10 newbuild vessels were successfully delivered, while the Ship Repair division achieved record revenue, reflecting sustained demand and high levels of customer satisfaction. This performance highlights Grandweld’s capability to deliver quality, reliability, and technical excellence at scale. With a current shipbuilding order book of 13 vessels, Grandweld continues to demonstrate strong client confidence in its capabilities and remains a key pillar of the Group’s integrated offering and long-term growth strategy. Health, Safety, and Environment In 2025, we maintained an LTI-free year across our chartering operations, reflecting the strength of our safety culture and the discipline embedded across our offshore and onshore teams. We continued to enhance our HSE practices through increased digitalisation, including the development of in-house applications to improve audit, inspection, and reporting processes. These initiatives are strengthening visibility, accountability, and efficiency across the organisation. At Grandweld, we also achieved zero LTIs during a year of high operational activity, reinforcing our commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards across all shipbuilding and repair operations. Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Sustainability continues to shape how we operate, with a growing focus on improving efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and embedding responsible practices across our business. Throughout the year, we continued to reduce our environmental footprint through initiatives such as fuel efficiency improvements, eco-friendly hull coatings, energy-saving technologies, and LED lighting across our fleet. Onshore, we implemented practical measures including recycling programs, reduced single-use plastics, and water conservation initiatives. We also remained committed to supporting our communities through partnerships with organisations such as Al Noor Training Centre, Rashid Centre for People of Determination, and the Mission to Seafarers. At Grandweld, our investment in renewable energy delivered measurable impact, with a reduction of approximately 920 tonnes of CO₂ emissions through our rooftop solar energy system.
